Lorne has a cracker of a caravan park

surf museum at Torquay

near Inverloch

was a bit like Honeycombes

same

ok bombey out the back (Bass Coast)

the main suprise was just how uncrowded the waves were compared to in the west, the conditions were pretty poor but it was easy to find beach breaks with hardly anyone out..doesnt seem to happen around the main tourist spots over here. the Bass coast (east of Phillip Island) seems to have some ok set-ups and i only seen a couple of surfers out, some of the bombies in the distance looked very surfable and some of the beachies around Wonthaggi had average waves without a surfer in sight (chest high with a mixture of closeouts and some makeable walls). Bells was small with 2 guys out and winki had 10-12 out but wasnt good.....

  2. yep, winter time doesnt look appealing...but summer,, had one day was 38 degrees..water was warm,
no wetsuits required, everyone in boardies, water felt the same as around Margs in summer, still coldish at night, not too bad though

  4. yep, that was at Lorne, big long beachie with some waves and a long point break with little waves
that would be fun on a fish etc. beachside pool, a long shopping strip and forest/waterfall walks
just 10 mins inland, bit hard to complain with a setup like that....5 mins prior to Lorne i seen some beachies with a kneelo out (fluro orange board) he was forced to surf by himself......they have it tough (i am sure they get crowds on long weekends etc. but i seen plenty of fun little waves with no-one on them mid-week, yes the sun was out and it was 32 degrees)..but like i said...summer great,,,,winter i dont know so much
