This one is 5'4" by 23 1/4" by 2 1/2" single into double, bowled concave, diamond tailed quad. The planshape is basically the same as my last board with 6" chopped off the tail and more subtle concave. Nose is 16 5/8" tail is 19.5" and widepoint 3" back of centre.
Yeh it's for me Griz, I'm finding the 5'9" has more than enough float for me and I like my boards as short as possible. With the extra float of epoxy, 5'4" will do the job. Obviously it's not something I'll be paddling out at 6ft Tombies, but I reckon it'll be just the ticket for 3-4ft Bonies. Fins are just where I wanted them, back.
Micko , what does Katana charge for epoxy boards these days ? As it would appear to me you've outlayed a fair bit of coin over the last twelve months to get to this stage .
$700ish Griz. It's not a matter of reaching a stage it's a matter of having a few different styles of boards to suit different waves or even just to play around with on the same day. At this stage I've got three of Dave's boards, this I've not ridden yet, the other two I really dig but they're both very different boards. And no doubt this one will be different again. My train of thought behind this was for more of a US styled board, but with more volume in the back half to suit smaller surf and my lard arse. There's definitely one more to come, maybe two.
Micko, this board is different and will create debate...but the big question is what deckgrip....? i had a look on the net the other day trying to find the stuff they use on the waterski wake/kneeboards, complete with built in kneewells....no luck, can recommend the stuff from Native...or Parkes (bubbles grip)
Got a couple of questions Micko
ReplyDeletea) Is this board for you > 5'4" ?
& b) happy with the fin placement ?
